A food technology company is a well-known jujube deep processing enterprise in North China, mainly producing jujube paste, jujube sauce, jujube concentrated juice, etc. It processes over 100,000 tons of fresh jujubes annually. Its products are widely supplied to downstream enterprises such as baking, beverages, and snack foods, and have strict requirements for the purity, taste, and production efficiency of jujube paste.
With the expansion of market demand, the original filtration equipment (vacuum drum filter) of the company could no longer meet the demand for capacity increase, and it urgently needed to upgrade the filtration system. The core demand was to achieve stable filtration of 1000L of jujube paste per hour, while reducing the moisture content of the filter cake and reducing raw material waste.

1. Insufficient capacity: The original equipment has a processing capacity of only 600L/h, and it is prone to filter screen blockage, requiring frequent shutdown for cleaning, with an average effective production time of less than 8 hours per day, unable to match the delivery cycle of downstream orders.
2. High filter cake moisture content: After filtration, the jujube paste filter cake has a moisture content of up to 65%, and a large amount of jujube effective components are lost with the filtrate, resulting in an over 15% raw material loss rate, increasing the production cost of the enterprise.
3. Non-compliance with hygiene standards: The original equipment has poor sealing performance, and jujube is prone to contact with the outside air, causing oxidation and discoloration; and the equipment material is ordinary carbon steel, which is prone to rust over time, posing a food safety hazard.
4. Complicated operation: Manual unloading, cleaning of filter screens, high labor intensity, and the possibility of filter cloth damage due to manual operation, as well as high equipment maintenance costs.
ⅢCustomized Filtration Solution
In response to the customer’s needs and pain points, combined with the high viscosity and high fiber characteristics of jujube paste, we have configured the XMYZ200/1250-U type fully automatic food-grade plate and frame filter press for them, and provided an exclusive process optimization plan:
1. Core configuration of the equipment
Filter plate material: Made of food-grade 304 stainless steel filter plates, with polished surface treatment. It complies with the GB 4806.9-2016 food safety national standard. It is resistant to acid and alkali, corrosion-resistant, and eliminates the release of heavy metals.
Filter cloth selection: Customized 800-mesh food-grade polyester long-fiber filter cloth, with uniform pore size. It can not only intercept the coarse fiber impurities in the jujube paste but also ensure the fine texture of the jujube paste, and the filter cloth is wear-resistant, easy to clean, and reusable.
Automation system: Equipped with PLC fully automatic control system, supporting automatic feeding, automatic pressure retention, automatic plate pulling and discharge, and automatic cleaning of the filter cloth. No need for manual intervention, reducing labor intensity.
Feeding system: Equipped with variable frequency screw feeding pump, which can adjust the feeding pressure (0.2-0.6 MPa) in real time according to the viscosity of the jujube paste to avoid filter plate deformation caused by excessive pressure and ensure stable filtration efficiency.
2. Key points of process optimization
Pre-treatment stage: After the date paste is finely ground by a colloid mill, it is first passed through a vibrating screen to remove large particles of pits and peels, and then enters the filter press to reduce the probability of filter cloth blockage.
Segmented filtration mode: The “low-pressure feed + high-pressure pressure retention” segmented filtration is adopted. In the early stage, low-pressure rapid feeding is carried out, and in the later stage, high-pressure squeezing for dehydration is performed, balancing the processing capacity and filter cake fineness.
Closed-loop cleaning system: The cleaning water uses food-grade pure water. The filter cloth is cleaned in all directions through a high-pressure spray device. The cleaning wastewater is filtered and recycled after sedimentation, reducing water resource consumption.
ⅣImplementation Results
After the equipment was installed and debugged, it was verified through 72 hours of continuous operation. All indicators exceeded the customer’s expectations:

Capacity met and exceeded
Under stable operation, the processing capacity of date paste reached 1100L/h, meeting the core demand of 1000L/h set by the customer, and the average daily effective production time increased to 16 hours, doubling the production capacity.

Raw material loss significantly reduced
The moisture content of the date paste filter cake after filtration dropped below 40%, and the raw material loss rate decreased from 15% to within 5%. Annual savings in date raw material costs exceeded 1 million yuan.

The filtered date paste has no obvious coarse fiber impurities, bright color, and fine texture. All indicators meet food production standards, and the customer’s downstream product satisfaction rate increased by 20%.
