Challenge: High operating costs of traditional filtration system
A certain municipal public swimming pool in France is facing a severe challenge in terms of operating costs. This public facility, with an annual visitor volume of 250,000 people, needs to process 200 cubic meters of water per hour. It has been using the traditional filtration system of “quartz sand + diatomite” for a long time. Although the filtration effect of this system is acceptable, diatomite is a one-time consumable material, and its annual consumption is huge, resulting in annual expenses for materials and related maintenance reaching 45,000 euros. Customers urgently need to find an innovative solution that can not only ensure water quality but also significantly reduce long-term operating costs.
Solution: Two-stage filtration system achieves efficient energy conservation
We have tailored a “self-cleaning filter + quartz sand” two-stage filtration innovation solution specifically for our customers:
Level 1: Self-cleaning filter pre-treatment
- Installed as a pre-treatment unit before the original quartz sand filter
- Using a 30-micron high-precision filter screen, it automatically intercepts and cleans larger particle impurities such as suspended substances and hair.
- Fully automatic operation, no need to replace the filter element, and only consumes a small amount of water and electricity.
- Significantly reduced the burden on the back-end main filtering system
Level 2: Optimize the existing quartz sand filter
- Retain and upgrade the customer’s existing equipment and continue with in-depth filtration.
- Capture even finer suspended particles
- The backwashing frequency is reduced by more than 60%, significantly saving water and prolonging the lifespan of the filter material.
Core value of the solution
This solution not only retains the customer’s original equipment assets, achieving investment protection, but also reduces the intensity of manual maintenance through intelligent operation. The two-level filtration system complements each other, ensuring that the effluent quality fully complies with and even exceeds the French public health standards.
Outcome: Significant reduction in operating costs
After implementing the new plan, the operating costs have decreased significantly:
- The cost of silica sand consumables has been reduced from the original 38,000 euros to zero cost. This alone has saved 38,000 euros.
- The costs of backwashing water and electricity consumption have decreased from 5,500 euros to 2,200 euros, saving 3,300 euros.
- The labor cost for system maintenance has also dropped from 1,500 euros to 500 euros, saving 1,000 euros.
Overall, the annual total operating cost has significantly decreased from the original 45,000 euros to 9,700 euros, achieving the annual savings target of 35,300 euros, bringing significant economic benefits and a sustainable operation model to the customers.
