Customer Background
A certain desalination engineering company in Malaysia is responsible for providing pre-treatment of seawater for the coastal industrial area, which is used for the subsequent reverse osmosis system. The original filtration equipment was made of plastic, with poor corrosion resistance and frequent filter bag replacements, resulting in high operating costs.
Solution
The customer purchased 4 JYSF-2#-316 stainless steel single-bag type filters (all made of 316L material, with 1-micron PP filter bags and 304 steel rings). Each filter has DN80 flanges at the inlet and outlet (ANSI 150#), and the bottom discharge port is equipped with a bend to facilitate regular cleaning. The sealing parts are made of fluororubber, which is resistant to seawater corrosion. The surface of the filter is polished to reduce impurity adhesion.
Usage effect
After filtration, the turbidity of the seawater is stabilized and controlled below 1 NTU, meeting the requirements for reverse osmosis feed water.
The 316L material has shown no signs of corrosion after 6 months of operation, significantly extending the equipment’s lifespan.
The filter bag replacement cycle has been extended from the original 3 days to 7 days, resulting in a reduction of maintenance costs by approximately 40%.
The bottom elbow sewage discharge design makes the cleaning operation more convenient, and the on-site workers have given a positive feedback.
Customer feedback:
“This batch of stainless steel single-bag type filters has effectively solved the problem of seawater corrosion. The filtration accuracy is stable, the maintenance is simple, and the subsequent expansion project will continue to use them.”
