The Challenge
The client needed to filter 10% of their cooling tower circulation flow—100 m³/hr—to reduce inlet suspended solids (TSS ~60 ppm) to below 5 ppm for particles over 50 microns. This would protect heat exchangers, lower chemical use, and save energy.
Our Solution
We supplied fully automatic, brush-type self-cleaning filter designed specifically for cooling water duty.
l High Capacity & Precision: Handles ≥100 m³/hr with 50-micron filtration.
l Robust Construction: Carbon steel body with a durable SS304 wedge wire screen.
l Fully Automated Operation: A PLC controls the cleaning cycle based on differential pressure and timer. A nylon brush cleans the screen, and waste is flushed out without interrupting flow.
l Smart Monitoring: Features an LCD display for real-time status and fault alerts.
The Outcome
This side stream filtration system helps the client maintain cleaner water, which improves heat transfer efficiency, reduces water and chemical consumption, and minimizes maintenance—all while protecting critical assets from scaling and corrosion.
