Customer background
A large copper mining enterprise in Chile has long been facing the problem of tailings dehydration. The high salt and high humidity environment in the mining area has caused severe rusting of traditional carbon steel filter presses, requiring maintenance and shutdown every three months on average. At the same time, the semi-automatic equipment operated manually has low efficiency, with the tailings moisture content always remaining at around 45%, which not only increases transportation costs but also poses the risk of environmental penalties.
Solution
We specially designed an automatic hydraulic filter press with 630 stainless steel frames for it.
1 . Stainless steel frame, perfectly resistant to corrosive gases and liquids in the mining area
2 . The high-pressure hydraulic system, combined with the reinforced polypropylene filter plates, has increased the single processing capacity to 3.8 cubic meters.
3 . 3The intelligent PLC control system enables fully automatic operation, reducing the number of operators by two-thirds.
4 . The modular quick-disassembly design has reduced the filter cloth replacement time from 2 hours to 30 minutes.
Operational effectiveness
After the equipment was put into operation, it immediately demonstrated significant advantages: the moisture content of tailings was stably controlled within the range of 33%-35%, meeting the local environmental protection standards; the daily processing batches were increased from 8 times to 12 times; what was even more surprising was that after continuous operation for 8 months, the machine frame remained as clean as new, requiring only routine maintenance. The customer calculated: compared to the old equipment, the annual comprehensive operating cost was saved by nearly $90,000, and the investment return period was less than 14 months.
“This filter press has completely transformed our tailings processing procedure. Now we can handle an additional 200 tons of materials every day, and we no longer have to worry about equipment suddenly breaking down.” —— The evaluation made by the director of the customer’s beneficiation plant in the acceptance report.
