In the core production process of the client, the target product needs to be synthesized through catalytic reactions. The reaction products contain valuable precious metal catalyst particles. To achieve efficient recovery of the catalysts to control production costs, as well as to remove impurities and ensure the safety of equipment in the subsequent distillation process, the client has made clear requirements for the filtration system:
Continuous operation guarantee:
The production line needs to operate non-stop for 24 hours. The filtration system must support online maintenance and must not cause the entire machine to stop due to filter cleaning or replacement, in order to minimize production losses to the greatest extent.
High precision and corrosion resistance:
It is necessary to precisely intercept catalyst particles with a size of ≥ 50μm, and the recovery rate should not be lower than 98%; the system needs to be able to handle acidic materials with a pH value of 3-5, and the material of the equipment must have excellent corrosion resistance to extend the service life.
Efficient and energy-saving operation:
The capacity of the filter screen should meet the actual working conditions, reducing the frequency of cleaning; the structural design should be easy to operate, reducing the maintenance burden on front-line staff, and at the same time controlling the overall cost of equipment operation and maintenance.
Taking into account the aforementioned requirements and the characteristics of the working conditions, we ultimately recommend the parallel basket filter solution. The selection basis for this solution is as follows:
Parallel structure ensures continuous operation:
The system adopts two single-chamber basket-type filters connected in parallel, equipped with a three-way valve and valve group, to enable alternate operation of the two chambers. When the filter screen of one chamber needs cleaning due to accumulated impurities, it can be switched by the valve to activate the other chamber for continued operation. The entire process does not require any shutdown, fully meeting the customer\’s requirement for 24-hour continuous production.
Customized materials and filters ensure performance:
The main body of the equipment and the filter are made of 316L stainless steel. Compared to ordinary 304 stainless steel, its acid resistance and resistance to chloride ion corrosion have significantly improved, enabling it to adapt to acidic medium working conditions of the project. It is expected that the service life of the equipment will be extended by more than three times compared to the original equipment. The filter is custom-made as 300 mesh accuracy to ensure effective interception of target particles.

The equipment is designed to handle a flow rate of 50 m³/h, with an inlet and outlet diameter of DN100 and a design pressure of 1.0 MPa. It is fully compatible with the existing production line\’s pipelines and process parameters. The upper cover adopts a quick-opening structure, and the process of removing and cleaning the filter screen can be completed within 15 minutes, significantly reducing the maintenance intensity of the staff and improving the operation and maintenance efficiency.
