Customer Background
A Mexican company located in the state of Jalisco, specializing in the cultivation and processing of aloe, mainly produces aloe juice, aloe concentrate, and other natural plant beverages. This enterprise processes approximately 8 tons of aloe raw materials per day, and its products are mainly exported to North America and Europe.
Facing challenges
In the clarification process of aloe vera juice, the customer’s original filtration equipment had the problem that the filtered liquid still contained suspended substances, affecting the clarity and shelf life stability of the product. At the same time, the material of the equipment lacked corrosion resistance, and after long-term contact with 70-degree hot liquid, it would rust. The manual operation was inefficient, the filtration cycle was long, unable to meet the demand for capacity increase, and the filter cloth was frequently replaced, resulting in high operating costs.
Solution

This customer purchased a stainless steel automatic hydraulic plate and frame filter press (BAY50/800 model) at the beginning of 2025. The entire machine is equipped with a 304SS stainless steel frame, a single-cylinder hydraulic pressing mechanism, and a manual plate pulling mechanism. The filtration unit is made of 316L material, including one head plate, one tail plate, 27 middle plates (25mm thick), and 28 filter frames (50mm thick). The accompanying filter cloth and filter paper are suitable for a siliceous earth and activated carbon auxiliary filtration system. The feeding system uses a sanitary 316L pneumatic diaphragm pump (QBW3-50), with a Teflon diaphragm. The control system is a Siemens S7-200 PLC, combined with Schneider electrical appliances and a touch screen, with a protection level of IP54. The auxiliary equipment includes 316L liquid-contact flip plates (hydraulic drive), 316L clamp-type pipes and valves, and 304SS electric contact pressure gauges.
All components in contact with liquids are made of 316L stainless steel, while non-contact parts are made of 304SS. The inlet and outlet interfaces adopt 51mm clamp-type quick connectors, which facilitate cleaning and maintenance.
Implementation effect
After the equipment was installed and debugged, it operated continuously for 3 months. The turbidity after filtration decreased from 12.5 NTU before the renovation to 1.8 NTU. The single batch filtration time was shortened from 4.5 hours to 2.2 hours. The average service life of the filter cloth was increased from 12 batches to 28 batches. The equipment cleaning time was reduced from 90 minutes to 40 minutes. The daily processing capacity was increased from 6 tons to 9.5 tons.
Customer feedback
“This stainless steel automatic hydraulic plate-and-frame filter press has significantly improved the clarity of our aloe vera juice. The 316L material fully meets the corrosion resistance requirements for high-temperature liquid materials, and the PLC automatic control makes the operation simple and reliable. Especially the clamp-type connection design makes cleaning very convenient. We plan to install the same equipment on the second production line as well.”
— Mr. Javier Rodríguez, the production supervisor of this enterprise
Summary
This equipment enables customers to achieve a quality improvement where the clarity of the filtered liquid meets the standards for North American exports. It reduces the filtration cycle by approximately 50% and increases production capacity by nearly 60%. The stainless steel material ensures high-temperature corrosion resistance and long equipment lifespan. The clamp quick-connect structure significantly shortens the time for filter cloth replacement and cleaning. The touch screen and PLC control reduce manual intervention and operational errors.
