JYSF-9#-304 Stainless Steel Bag Filter Helps European Chemical Plant Upgrade Liquid Filtration System

Background
The customer is a medium-sized chemical enterprise based in Germany, specializing in the production of industrial cleaning agents and surfactants. A critical step in its production line involves filtering the liquid surfactant discharged from the reactor before it is sent to the finished product storage tank. The original filtration equipment was an old-style basket filter equipped with a stainless steel mesh, offering a precision of only 300 microns. The mesh was prone to clogging, requiring shutdown for cleaning twice a week, with each cleaning taking about 3 hours—severely impacting continuous production rhythm.

Challenges
The customer faced three core issues: first, insufficient filtration precision, which occasionally led to customer complaints about particulate residue on the downstream filling line; second, the high cleaning frequency resulted in rising labor maintenance costs year over year; and third, the old equipment’s housing was made of carbon steel, which, after prolonged contact with weakly alkaline materials, showed internal corrosion, posing a risk of product contamination.

Through technical communication with the customer, we confirmed that our JYSF series stainless steel bag filter met their upgrade requirements.

Solution
We recommended the JYSF-9#-304 model to the customer, with the following key specifications:

  • Housing material: SS304, with a shot-blasted surface finish, resistant to weak alkali corrosion

  • Filter bag specification: 280×1000 mm, PP material, filtration precision of 180 microns

  • Side-in, side-out configuration, DN65 flange connection, compatible with the customer’s existing piping

  • Design pressure: 10 bar, suitable for their operating pressure of approximately 5 bar15

The customer purchased two units at once—one for active use and one as a standby—installed in parallel downstream of the reactor discharge outlet.

Implementation Results
After one month of operation, the customer provided the following feedback data:

  • Particulate matter in the filtered material dropped from an average of 120 ppm to 15 ppm, and complaints from the filling line dropped to zero

  • Service life of a single filter bag increased from 7 days on the original equipment to 18 days (thanks to the 180-micron precision combined with the PP material’s deep-layer interception structure, significantly improving dirt-holding capacity)

  • Maintenance time was reduced from 6 hours per week to approximately 40 minutes every two weeks (only requiring bag replacement, with no need to clean the housing)

  • The shot-blasted surface showed no visible corrosion after contact with the material

Customer Feedback
In a subsequent email, the customer’s production supervisor stated that the JYSF-9#-304 operates stably, with a gradual pressure differential rise, and that filter bag replacement is straightforward, requiring no special training for workers. Their procurement department has since included our filter on the plant’s preferred supplier list and plans to continue using the same model on another new production line under construction.
